𝗜𝗳 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝘆 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆, 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝘆 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗰𝘆

When I joined the Society of Internationally Educated Nurses and Nursing Allies (SIENNA), my goal was clear. I wanted to continue the work my friends and I started in the Lefora Facebook Group by providing a community for immigrant nurses, elevating their voices, mentoring and supporting them, and advocating for their rights, growth, and professional advancement.

As this journey progressed, it became clear that the need extended far beyond what we had built. Lefora has grown to 242,000 members, but outside this online community, there remains a serious lack of representation and formal organization for immigrant nurses in the global nursing landscape.

Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) face systemic barriers, limited access to reliable resources, and minimal structured support as they transition into new health systems.

Many have experienced unethical recruitment practices, exploitation, and trafficking. Too many have been silenced or excluded from spaces where decisions about the nursing workforce are being made.

Their voices, our voices, deserve to be heard, respected, and represented wherever the future of nursing is shaped.

My vision for SIENNA is to be a global organization that unites nurses across borders and creates a professional home where IENs are supported and empowered to lead, influence policy, and shape healthcare worldwide.

SIENNA is expanding its influence in international forums addressing nursing mobility, workforce sustainability, evidence-based practice, scholarship, and leadership. We are ensuring that IENs are meaningfully represented in these global discussions and decision-making spaces. As we continue to grow, we need your support.
