About DrNursePaul (DNP)
Dr. Paul Biluan, also known as DrNursePaul (DNP), was born and raised in the Philippines, where he experienced the realities of poverty and limited opportunities. From a young age, he developed an entrepreneurial spirit, finding creative ways to earn money and support his family. These early challenges shaped his resilience and work ethic, teaching him the value of perseverance and determination.
DNP carries these values with him to this day as he mentors thousands of nurses across the globe. He believes in the principle of paying it forward, dedicating his time to support and advocate for nurses. He actively engages in volunteer work and philanthropic efforts to uplift others in the profession.
His story is one of rising above hardship and using personal experience to empower others. Through his journey, he hopes to inspire nurses everywhere to pursue their goals with courage, compassion, and purpose.

Education
DNP earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Far Eastern University – Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation (FEU-NRMF) in 2007. Early in his career, he developed a passion for emergency nursing and disaster response. This interest led him to pursue a Master of Arts in Nursing, major in Disaster and Emergency Management, at Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU), where he graduated in 2016. His thesis focused on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and the Coping Mechanisms of Hurricane Victims, reflecting his commitment to trauma-informed care and crisis response.
In pursuit of greater global impact, DNP migrated to the United States to advance his education. He completed his Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at Texas Christian University (TCU) in 2022, where he also earned his Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) certification and a Post-Master’s Certificate in Nursing Education. His academic journey reflects a deep commitment to clinical excellence, educational leadership, and lifelong mentorship.

Career
After earning his RN license in 2007, DNP faced the challenges of an oversaturated job market in the Philippines. With limited opportunities for new nurses, he began his professional journey as a hospital volunteer, determined to gain experience and build a meaningful career in nursing. He later worked as a research assistant and eventually became an academic director for a nursing licensure preparation company. His leadership and teaching skills opened doors to teach in universities across the Philippines, where he educated thousands of senior and graduating nursing students from 2009 to 2017 - many of whom now hold successful nursing careers around the world.
During this time, DNP also became a sought-after speaker at conferences and seminars in the Philippines and Indonesia, specializing in emergency and disaster nursing, pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing, and nursing licensure preparation. He later served as a manager for one of the country’s largest NCLEX prep companies, which allowed him to further develop his entrepreneurial mindset and leadership skills.
Life in USA
In 2017, DNP migrated to the United States to pursue a career in emergency nursing. He began working as an emergency department nurse in South Texas, and in 2018, he started his Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) studies while working full time. He served as a charge nurse and participated in multiple hospital committees and leadership initiatives. When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, DNP served as a COVID response nurse in Houston, working across multiple emergency departments in the city’s hardest-hit areas.
He earned his Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) certification in 2021 and transitioned into advanced practice in 2023, officially stepping into his role as a nurse practitioner.
In the midst of the pandemic, DNP launched AspireRN, an NCLEX preparation company, in 2020. With a global reach, AspireRN has helped nurses from over 40 countries. Paul developed the DrNursePaul Method, a strategic NCLEX prep system with a 98% success rate among internationally educated nurses.
DNP remains deeply engaged in professional advocacy and community work. He is the President and a Founding Member of SIENNA, the Society of Internationally Educated Nurses in North America, where he leads efforts to promote ethical recruitment, equitable practice environments, and success pathways for IENs. He is also an active member and volunteer with the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, serving as a scholar, speaker, and community facilitator.
He holds committee roles with the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and is a proud member of the Texas Nurse Practitioners (TNP), American Nurses Association (ANA), Texas Nurses Association (TNA), and the Filipino Nasyunal United. Through these platforms, Dr. Paul Biluan continues to mentor, advocate, and empower nurses on both local and global levels.

Growing up in the Philippines, Paul Biluan’s family was tight, religious, and in Paul’s words, dysfunctional.
